The new Interdepartmental Master’s Program entitled “Advanced Technologies for Environmental Risk Management” of the collaborating Departments of i) Agriculture, Ichthyology and Aquatic Environment, ii) Energy Systems and iii) Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design of the University of Thessaly was established.

Subject of the MSc entitled “Advanced Technologies for Environmental Risk Management”, is the education and research in the broad knowledge field of Environmental Risk Management, through modern technologies. Main environmental risks that will be studied are those related to hydrological features such as floods, erosion, landslides, drought, the degradation of water resources as well as the qualitative characteristics of natural resources and contribute to environmental degradation and endangerment various technical projects.

Main purpose of MSc is the specialization and deepening of the graduates of the program in matters concerning the management technologies of the land, water, natural, built and road environment, both at a theoretical and applied level, based on the principles of sustainable development.
In particular, the purpose of MSc is the provision of high quality education in the field of Environmental Risk Management by applying modern techniques and methodologies of study, investigation, prediction, management and proposal of protection and prevention measures based on the principles of sustainability. The main objectives of D.P.M.S. are the folowing:

  • The provision of high level postgraduate education.
  • The specialization of scientists in modern environmental protection technologies against natural hazards and sustainable management methodologies.
  • The provision of knowledge and appropriate supplies to the students of MSc so that they can either effectively staff the private and public sectors or continue their studies at PhD level.

The MSc “Advanced Technologies for Environmental Risk Management” is structured in 1 year/2 academic semesters, which include the attendance and successful examination of nine (9) compulsory courses and then the preparation of a postgraduate research thesis. The minimum length of time to complete the program is one (1) calendar year starting on October 1st and ending on September 30th of the following year.

Students must be graduates of University Departments of the country and of recognized institutions abroad, as well as graduates of TEI Departments of the following subjects:

Agriculture

– Forestry

– Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and other related subjects

-Other University and Departments, Engineering Departments A.S.PAI.TE. related cognitive object

-Environmental Sciences

– Other Departments with five (5) years of experience in a subject related to the academic subject of the MSc

-Other scientific fields and specialties deemed relevant by the competent Graduate Student Selection Committee
