As part of the skills upgrading programs in digital and green skills, KEDIVIM of the University of Thessaly is organizing a subsidized seminar entitled: “Furniture design with modern means (3D printing – CNC machines)”.
The program “Furniture design with modern means (3D printing – CNC machines)” is implemented within the framework of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” with funding from the European Union – NextGenerationEU.
The specific seminar will take place in Karditsa and is aimed at unemployed people registered in the Register of the Unemployed of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (formerly OAED), with an active unemployment card, regardless of whether they receive unemployment benefit or not. A high school diploma is a necessary condition for participation in this seminar.
Each beneficiary who successfully completes the seminar and obtains a certificate of knowledge and skills is entitled to receive an educational allowance amounting to 5 euros/hour of training. Scientifically Responsible for the seminar is Dr. Sotirios Karastergiou, Professor Univ. of Thessaly and Deputy Scientific Manager Dr. Georgios Mantanis, Professor Univ. Thessaly.
The duration of the seminar is 50 hours and hybrid (18 hours in-person at the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design, 19 hours of synchronous distance learning and 13 hours of asynchronous distance learning).
The aim of this particular seminar is to provide basic knowledge in furniture design with modern means. In particular, the trainees will receive knowledge: a) about wood and the various wood products used in the manufacture of furniture, b) about the modern methods of processing the above materials, c) about the creative design of furniture, d) about the methodology that followed for the design of furniture with modern means, e) for the programming of CNC machines, f) for the 3D printing techniques applied to the design of wood products, and g) for the stages required to manufacture a piece of furniture with CNC machines.
