In the context of the operation of the Postgraduate Studies Program (MSc) entitled “Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bio-economy” (http://msc-forest.fwsd.uth.gr), of the Department of Forestry, Wood Science and Of Design (http://fwsd.uth.gr), of the School of Technology, of the University of Thessaly, according to the decision of the Rector of the University of Thessaloniki, No. 15417/20 / GP. for its establishment (Government Gazette 3685 / 3-9-2020, vol. B ‘) and the decision No. 69 / 23-5-2022 (Issue 3rd) of the Assembly of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design, interested parties are invited to apply for admission to it during the Academic Year 2022-2023.

In the MSc are accepted University graduates, graduates of Departments of Forestry, former Forestry and DFP, Geotechnical Sciences, Environment, graduates of other University Departments (Universities or TEI) with relevant relevance in the subject of the said MSc which, as the case may be, are judged by the competent Committee for the Selection of Postgraduate Students, graduates of foreign universities, of a relevant specialty, after submitting an equivalence of their title by the competent body.

The MSc is offered in full or part time. The duration of studies for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (D.M.S.) is set at three (3) academic semesters for full-time students and five (5) academic semesters for part-time students, which include 10 courses and elaboration of diploma thesis. The 3rd and 5th semesters, in the case of full-time and part-time study respectively, are offered for the elaboration of the postgraduate thesis. The minimum time for the completion of the P.M.S. is 1.5 years (3 academic semesters) and the total number of credits (ECTS) required to obtain the D.M.S. is 90 (ninety).

The number of students who will be admitted to the MSc according to the Academic Year 2022-2023 amounts to thirty (30).

The registrations in the MSc will take place on the second 15 days of September 2022, while the lessons will start at the beginning of October 2022 and will take place, live and distance (according to current legislation), every 15 days, on Fridays (afternoon), Saturdays and Sundays. , in the building facilities of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design in Karditsa.

From the publication of this call for expressions of interest until August 31th, 2022, interested parties are invited to submit the completed Expression of Interest Form in full Google Forms by attaching the following supporting documents:

  1. Request for expression of interest (accompanies this call).
  2. Copy of ID or passport.
  3. Complete Curriculum Vitae, which will include information about the studies and, if any, about the scientific and professional activity of the candidate.
  4. Copies of diplomas, accompanied by the detailed course grades (or Diploma Supplements) and in case the completion of the studies is imminent, a responsible statement that the candidate is expected to graduate by the end of the registration in the MSc.
  5. Certificate of recognition and equivalence of a degree or diploma from D.O.A.T.A.P. (for those who come from foreign universities).
  6. Copies of foreign language certificates (if any).
  7. Evidence of professional, educational experience and generally scientific activity (if any).
  8. Letters of recommendation (if any).

The evaluation of the candidates will be based on the overall grade (on a scale of 1 – 100) with the following criteria (in parentheses the weighting factor of each criterion is shown): a) the general degree / diploma with a minimum grade of “Very Good” ( 30%), b) the level of knowledge of the foreign language (10%), c) the publications in scientific journals, announcements in scientific conferences (5%), d) the possession of other Postgraduate Degrees (5%), e) the relevant professional experience (10%), f) letters of recommendation (10%) and g) interview (30%). Admitted to the MPS are candidates with the highest overall grade. Exceptionally and only in case the required number of entrants has not been filled (up to 30) can be accepted candidates with a general degree of “Welcome”, according to a documented suggestion of the Coordinating Committee of the MPS and decision of the Assembly of the Department.

The Selection Committee will invite to an interview – oral examination those of the candidates who meet the formal and substantive requirements.

The MSc is self-financed and the total tuition per student amounts to 2,800, which are paid in installments in two (2) equal installments, in September and January of each academic year. It is noted that two (2) scholarships of excellence are given in the AD and B semester of courses (amounting to € 1,400 each) to the students who obtain the highest score in the respective courses. In addition, as provided by the provisions of Article 35 there of Law 4485/2017, from the total number of admitted students, 30% of them are exempted from tuition fees based on economic and social criteria.
