The group of postgraduate students of postgraduate study program, named Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bioeconomy (http://msc-forest.fwsd.uth.gr/) of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design (https://fwsd.uth.gr/) of the University of Thessaly, received an important distinction.

It is an ecological package (wooden cylinder) that will contain cotton made from wood processing residues such as sawdust, while it will contain compressed cotton embedded in the form of a string. It will also be possible to reuse the packaging with replacement cotton or simply as a place to store another product or use as a decoration. Each piece will display a unique code, which with each purchase of the “CottonTree” eco-packaging, the amount of money collected will be redeemed and earmarked for financing environmentally friendly actions.

The idea of “CottonTree” arose as a result of the work of the six-month course “Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Value Chain of Forest Ecosystems” of postagraduate study program ” Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bioeconomy “, with the responsibility of the Associate Professor of Forestry Economics and Innovation of the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences & Design, Mr. Mario Trigka.
