As part of Erasmus’s competitive International Mobility program, the exchange of professors between the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design and the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) based in Yerevan, Armenia was recently completed. Specifically, Professor Dr. Michalis Vrachnakis visited ANAU during the period 19-27 March 2022, where he delivered a series of lectures to students and professors of the University.

Mr. Vrachnakis had also the opportunity to discuss with ANAU academics the possibility of starting a project for the inventory of traditional agroforestry systems in Armenia. For this purpose, the possibility of further cooperation under the Erasmus Knowledge Alignment was sought, as both support the idea of including students in their activities, in order to gain skills and experience in inventory techniques applied in the field. Respectively, during the period 10-14 May 2022, Professor Dr. Areg Karapetyan visited the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design.

Mr. Karapetyan had the opportunity to take part in the three-day educational trip of the undergraduate students of the Department that was organized from May 11-13 in the Prespes area. During this time, he had the opportunity to take part in the students’ educational exercises and gave a series of lectures on the integrated management of forest landscapes with plenty of examples from forest areas of Armenia. Within the framework of extroversion of the Department, it is expected that similar bilateral visits with the presence of students will be supported.
