The Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences & Design, in collaboration with HellaBiom, within the framework of the 1st Regional Biomass Forum, successfully organized an event on “Bioenergy and Sustainable Forest Management”. The purpose of the Forum was to bring businesses, local government, academic and research institutions, agricultural and forestry cooperatives, energy communities, logistics managers, owners-operators of project machinery, forestry and agricultural machinery, biomass producers and generally all stakeholders into direct contact and networking. of the biomass value chain.
The event featured presentations on the state of forests in Austria and biomass, as well as technical training for forest workers by Austrian experts. Brief greetings were given by the Head of the Commercial Department of the Austrian Embassy ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA, Mr. Christoph Sturm, the Representative of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regional Affairs and Water Management, Mr. Paul Ehgartne and the Director of the Federal Research Center for Forests in the Ossiach area, Ms. Anna-Sophie Pirtscher. The delegation also included 15 directors of Austrian companies related to the forest and biomass.
The event was concluded by the Head of the Department, Professor Georgios Ntalos, who presented the current situation in Greece regarding Forestry and Biomass, followed by a tour of the Department’s premises.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Austrian Embassy in Athens, the Commercial Department ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA and the Austrian Biomass Association. The Ambassador of Austria in Greece Ms. Gerda Vogl was met before the event by the Head of the Department, Professor Georgios Ntalos.
