The IPA ADRION area has a strong tradition in furniture production, but shows significant differences in the use of local wood, generated waste, and circularity practices. SMEs in the region are called to adopt greener and more sustainable production methods in line with European strategies, while consumers are increasingly turning to products with a smaller environmental footprint.
The FULAR project aims to strengthen the circular economy in the furniture sector through joint actions and innovative solutions. Partners from Greece, Italy, Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Slovenia, and Croatia—including universities, research centers, development agencies, and business networks—collaborate to develop tools that will support SMEs, academics, policymakers, and consumers.
The project includes studies on the green transition, analysis of best practices, identification of sustainable materials and technologies, as well as activities such as a circular design contest and international material engineering workshops. The best designs will be prototyped and tested, demonstrating the feasibility of applying innovative circular solutions in the sector.
With an organized plan for dissemination and knowledge transfer, FULAR contributes significantly to the sustainable development of the ADRION area and opens new pathways for circularity in the furniture sector.
