The fieldwork for the monitoring and evaluation of the conservation status of all habitat types listed in Annex I of Directive 92/43/EEC, as well as nationally significant habitat types occurring in the SCIs and SPAs of the NATURA 2000 network, has been successfully completed:

  • GR1410001 (TAVROPOU LAKE AREA),
  • GR1410002 (AGRAFA),
  • GR1420003 (AESTHETIC FOREST OF OSSA),
  • GR1420010 (STENAS KALAMAKIOU),
  • GR1440001 (ASPROPOTAMOS),
  • GR1440002 (KOZIAKAS),
  • GR2450001 (VARDOUSIA MOUNTAINS),
  • GR1260005 (PEAKS OF ORVILOS MOUNTAIN),
  • GR1430002 (KOURI ALMYROU), and
  • GR2140001 (STENAS ACHERONTAS AND MOUTHS OF ACHERONTAS).

The work was carried out within the framework of the project “Supervision and evaluation of the conservation status of terrestrial and wetland habitat types of community and national interest in Greece,” which is being implemented by the Laboratory of Forest Botany & Forestry of the Department of DEXYS, under the scientific supervision of the laboratory director Dr. Dimitrios Samaras.

The project began in June 2023 and will be completed in April 2025. Participating in the fieldwork were undergraduate students Sotiría Choléva Markella Tsimaraki, Elsa Tsitsou, Pasa Gerisa, and Giannis Sarris, PhD candidate Fotini Pelekani from the Department, and the external collaborator of the Laboratory of Forest Botany & Forestry, Dr. Christos Damianidis.
