Dr. Grigorios P. Papageorgiou is Professor at the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences & Design (DEXYS) of the University of Thessaly (UTH), with the subject “Road Engineering” and head of the Laboratory of Forest Road Engineering & Forestry Works. He holds diploma in Civil Engineer and doctorate from the University of Thessaly. In addition, in order to better approach the road engineering in terms of its sustainable integration into the environment, he obtained postgraduate diplomas from the Hellenic Open University (HOU), in “Environmental Infrastructure Design” and “Environmental Design”. In parallel, aiming at the knowledge of modern teaching methods, he obtained a certificate of Pedagogical and Teaching Competency from the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education. The academic year 2013-2014 and from 2015 until today, he is consultant-professor / master thesis supervisor in the Postgraduate Program (MSc) “Construction Management” and in the Undergraduate Program “Public Administration” of the HOU, in the academic years 2017-2019 in the MSC “Modern Technologies of Environmental Management Projects” of the Department of Civil Engineering TE of Larissa of the Technological Institute of Thessaly and the General Department of Larissa of the UTH and the acad. years 2020-2022, in the Postgraduate Program “Multifunctional Management of Forest Ecosystems and Bio-economy” of the DEXYS Dept. In addition, he is a member of the teaching staff of the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program “Advanced Technologies for Environmental Risk Management”, from the academic year 2022-2023. He has given lectures in the field of road project management and has supervised over sixty postgraduate and graduate/diploma dissertations. He holds many years of professional experience as freelancer, infrastructure valuer, security technician tutor, expert, auditor and investment/infrastructure assessor. His current research interests lay on the fields of road infrastructure management, pavement management, smart roads and environmental harmonization of road projects. He has published over ninety papers and articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, international and national conferences, technical journals, collective volumes, etc. He is reviewer in internationally recognized scientific journals, with an impact factor (IF). He is, among other memberships, a member of the Hellenic Association of Greek Transport Specialists and certified valuer of the Organization “The European Group of Valuers’ Associations” (TEGoVA).
