Dr. Marios Trigkas is an Assοciate Professor of Forest Economics & Innovation at the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design at the University of Thessaly. His scientific field is “Forest Economics and Innovation” and he is a member of the Laboratory of Forest Economics, Marketing, Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He teaches to the pre and post graduate programs of the Department. He has been distinguished for his research work and for his participation as a member of research teams for developing new products by several business and scientific organizations. His research interests are Innovation, Economics of Innovation and businesses, Entrepreneurship, Innovation management, funding, Circular Economy and Bioeconomy, Environmental and Forestry Economics, focusing to environmental protection and the utilization of forest resources. He has authored and co-authored more than 120 publications in international and national scientific journals and conference proceedings, while he has participated to the editing, submission and implementation of more than 40 European and national research projects as member of research teams. He was also the Scientific Coordinator of 5 research projects and he is a reviewer in a significant number of distinguished international scientific journals. More specifically under the context of his participation in research projects, Dr. Trigkas has been involved with New Products Development (idea-experimental development), market research, economic and financial analysis and viability of innovative products and investments, business planning and modeling, development of new structures for supporting entrepreneurship, research on bioeconomy and circular economy, eco-innovation and sustainable development, incorporation of ICT in eco-products, as long as business networking activities etc. focusing to the forestry, forest industries and wood and furniture sectors. He is member of national and international scientific and research organizations and initiatives regarding his scientific interests. Indicatively, he is member of the EuroMed Academy of Business, of the Greek Bioeconomy Forum and he was the General Secretariat of the Greek Forestry Association during 2015-2018 and he is a member in several working groups in collaboration with national Ministries and Greek public organizations, under the context of his scientific interests. Except his teaching experience as a University Professor, he has been involved with business consulting and support.
