The University of Thessaly (UTH) offers first-year students electronic services in order to facilitate their interaction with the Institution.
For the immediate activation and use of the most basic electronic services, first-year students can follow the following guide – steps.
- Step 1: UTH Institutional Account
Every first-year student upon registration at the Institution automatically obtains a personal Institutional Account for access to online services, which remains active throughout his studies. The Institutional Account consists of the User Name (username) and the secret Code (password).
To activate your Institutional Account you will need to go to the Password Recovery page. There you will enter the recovery username and password you were given and twice a code of your choice. CAUTION: The recovery password provided to you is one-time use and is automatically disabled after your account activation process.
- Step 2: Webmail
Every first-year student upon registration at the Institution automatically obtains a personal Electronic Mail Address (eMail). No action is required on the part of the students in order to obtain their email at UTH.
The personal eMail is of the format username@uth.gr, where username is the Username corresponding to the Institutional Account of each student.
User login to E-Mail is done with the Institutional User Account.
To access E-Mail through a web page, you can use the Webmail service (Webmail instructions).

- Step 3: General Registry Number
Every first-year student upon registration at the Institution automatically obtains a personal General Registration Number. For first-year undergraduate students, the General Registration Number consists of 7 digits.
No action is required on the part of the students in order to obtain their General Registration Number.
To find out about the General Registration Number assigned to you, you can connect to the Electronic Secretariat service (see below).
- Step 4: Academic Identity
Every first-year student upon registration at the Institution has the possibility to obtain an Academic Identity from the Ministry of Education. The Academic ID also works as a Reduced Ticket Pass.
To obtain an Academic ID, go to the relevant platform of the Ministry of Education by following the link http://academicid.minedu.gov.gr
During the issuance of the Academic ID through the relevant platform of the Ministry of Education, you can be informed about the General Registration Number you have received from the UTH. ATTENTION: On the platform of the Ministry of Education, the 7-digit AGM of UTH is referred to under the general name No. Registry.
- Step 5: Connection to the Network of UTH
In order to access some of the electronic services of the University of Athens (e.g. Electronic Secretariat, Library Databases) from your personal electronic device (PC, Laptop, Tablet, Smartphone), it is necessary:
- if you are inside the University of Thessaly premises, connect to the University of Thessaly WiFi network (WiFi/Eduroam instructions), or
- if you are outside the premises of the University of Thessaly, use the VPN service (Virtual Private Network (VPN) instructions). User login to the VPN is done with the Institutional User Account.
- Step 6: Electronic Secretariat
Through the Electronic Secretariat you can remotely register for courses, view your grades, etc.
ATTENTION: To access the Electronic Secretariat from your personal electronic device outside the UTH network, you must use the Virtual Private Network – VPN (Virtual Private Network (VPN) instructions).
Go/Log in to the Electronic Secretariat service. User access to the Electronic Secretariat is done with the Institutional User Account.
In addition, by logging in to the Online Secretariat, in the “Student Information” section in the “Study Information” tab, you can find out about the “General Registration Number” that you have received from the University of Thessaly.
- Step 7: eClass
The eClass e-learning platform functions as the unified e-learning system of the University of Thessaly.
First-year students should go to the eClass website (https://eclass.uth.gr/) and register with their Institutional Account details.

After successful registration, user login to eClass is done with Institutional User Account..
- Step 8: MS Teams
The MS Teams platform is used to conduct and monitor distance courses.
To activate the MS Teams service, follow the relevant guide entitled Instructions for Connecting and Using MS-Teams.

After successful activation and configuration, user login to MS Teams is done with the Institutional User Account.
