The Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design participates in the international winter school of the European Organization EUROACADEMY ASSOCIATION (https://www.euracademy.org/) which will take place at the facilities of the Department in Karditsa, between November 27-30, 2023. winter school is organized within the framework of the Co-Green international action (https://www.euracademy.org/co-green/).

The CO-GREEN action develops an intervention model that supports community development in the ecological transition, incorporating the values, principles and sustainable practices that characterize the Green Deal of the European Union (Green Deal, https://commission.europa.eu/ strategy-and-policy/priorities-2019-2024/european-green-deal_en). The action involves and empowers peripheral communities, that is, those communities that are not located in urban centers and that are not directly involved in local/regional decision-making processes regarding green policies. As a result of this peripheral position, they tend to be passive recipients rather than active participants in green policy and their inclusion and participation is considered essential. To this end, in the communities involved in Poland, Italy, Croatia and Greece, local groups of green activators will organize proximity actions, with the aim of raising awareness among citizens about how to deal with critical problems affecting well-being and environmental Protection. Local government organizations and academic institutions from Poland, Italy, Croatia and Greece participate in the action. From Greece, apart from the Greek branch of EUROACADEMY ASSOCIATION, the Municipality of Karditsa.
