The project “Advanced training on sustainable management of pastoral systems” (TranSuMan), approved by the European Commission under Key Action 2 (KA220 HED) – Cooperation partnerships in higher education, has as to develop an innovative educational approach to creating a professional profile, capable of tackling the sustainable management of European grassland ecosystems in an interdisciplinary way, according to which academic knowledge together with the experience of local stakeholders creating a favorable learning environment for students (tomorrow professionals), enabling them to work in a real environment The specific objectives of the project are: – to establish common guidelines and strategies for the sustainable management and utilization of meadows – to define teaching methods and strategies for the participation of stakeholders in the teaching / learning process. – transfer of knowledge to Higher Education students about the complexity of grassland management, including the design of sustainable product chains based on high quality products and the management of bottom-up processes.
The project is coordinated by the Universita degli Sudi di Camerino (Italy) and also includes the Fundacion Universidad Catolica de Valencia San Vicente Martir (Spain), the Universitatea Babes Bolyai (Romania), while the University of Thessaly is represented by the Department of Forestry, Wood Sciences and Design. The members of the Department, Professor Michalis Vrachnakis, Assoc. Professor Mr. Ioannis Kazoglou and Assoc. Professor Mr. Marios Trigkas. At the same time, a team of 8 students (4 undergraduate and 4 postgraduate) will be employed. The project will last until December 2023.
